Last night we were ecstatic to put our culinary passion to use for a great cause, creating a three-tiered confection for Operation Marry Me Military Mecklenberg (OMMM), an amazing foundation that funds dream I dos for active military couples each Veteran’s Day. This year’s couple, Nikki and Aaron, were full of bliss and gratitude, and we feel the same about them–along with all of those serving and who have served our great country. It was a golden opportunity that filled our hearts with joy–and prompted a fitting palette picker of the day: Gold and bridal white. From our own metallic floral cake creation to gold foil stationery and sequin linens, this hue combo feels quintessentially fitting for the fall weather we’ve been enjoying and holiday season to come. And again, a big thanks to Heidi Crowder of Carolina Weddings and Events for allowing us to be a part of Nikki and Aaron’s special day, and many thanks to all the other participating vendors. Be sure to follow us on Instagram for a close-up of Nikki and Aaron’s cake, and other exciting ventures in the Wow Factor family.
Calling all cake lovers, we recently presented a design challenge to our team at Wow Factor Cakes to test their skills at piping. We like to keep everyone’s design skills sharp, so we recently did an education tutorial on piping skills for all our designers and interns. Their homework was to utilize unique and interesting piping techniques on a 3 tiered cake. Take a look at all 4 cakes and *VOTE on who you think completed their design homework with the best technique. The winner gets a grand prize and bragging rights until we have our next design contest!
*How to vote for your favorite: Please leave a blog comment with your top cake choice: 1, 2, 3 or 4. Please be sure to vote only one time.
Stay tune for more exciting design contests to come this Fall!

We were recently approached by a client who wanted to have an unusual celebration cake designed for an upcoming Birthday, a replica of the famous St. Edwards Crown, a priceless heirloom piece originally designed for the British monarchy in 1661. The St. Edwards Crown may look familiar if you’ve tuned into Royal news lately, as it is the official crown of Queen Elizabeth, who just celebrated the 60th anniversary of her coronation last week. The Crown made a rare public appearance out for the coronation jubilee celebrations last week, which marks the first time in 60 years of it being seen formally outside of the crown jewels collection. The Crown also made it’s appearance right here in the ‘Queen City’, in the form of cake! We love to create designs that are unique and can be seen as true works of art, we think this lovely crown replica definitely ‘takes the cake’! Call us today to design your own unique specialty or celebration cake: 704.654.0598, and visit our site for more examples of specialty cakes here.

Our concept for The Blind Folded dinner is to have a unique experience where the setting is intimate and we can enjoy quality time with friends and new acquaintances. We also couldn’t help but share the incredible talents of our friends Jessica & Chef Luca of Passion8 Bistro! They once again tantalized all our senses with a four course meal paired with the perfect wines. Amazing! Passion8 Bistro uses only the finest ingredients provided by local farmers and you can certainly taste it in each unseen bite. We made cake decorators out of our guests with a customized “paint by the numbers” cake that we created, with all guests leaving their mark. Finally, we ended the evening with a decadent chocolate dessert and sent everyone home with Neet Sweets.
I am so honored to work with such talent here in Charlotte. I loved working with Anne Markey of Favor Me Events. When we asked her to help we were thrilled when she agreed. We shared our vision and Anne created a sexy design that blew us away. She also kept me on task (which I needed badly). Carey Roberts of Carey Roberts Design created gorgeous floral centerpieces filled with anemones. The table looked incredible-another very talented lady! The intriguing invitations that left our guests wondering and place settings were designed by none other than the talented Debra Hall of Olive Paper. Party Reflections helped create our sexy theme by providing sleek linens and beautiful table settings. A big thank you to Rachel Fesko of Rachel Fesko Photography who shot those amazing images. She is multi-talented as she can eat blind folded and take pictures at the same time.
Thank you for all who participated! We appreciate you and it was a pleasure serving you.
