We hope you’re staying warm on this very cold week! To get you out of your winter blues, we’re sharing a real wedding with stunning colors and textures that inspired our show stopping cake! Many thanks to Critsey Rowe for the gorgeous images.
To create a quatrefoil pattern, we used a textured pin to get the desired shape. Each hand painted quatrefoil piece was put on the cake one by one for perfect placement.
We loved the finished product and how it complimented the bridesmaids attire. They were absolutely stunning in blue. The color combinations in this wedding were simply gorgeous and we especially loved the bridal jewelry!
We love seeing our work in print!
All our best to the happy couple, and thanks to the amazing vendors below who made this beautiful wedding go off without a hitch!
Happy Friday! We wanted to kick off your weekend with a gorgeous photo shoot filled with stunning flowers, a beautiful mountain backdrop and of course, Wow Factor Cakes!
The sweet and talented Ashley with The Graceful Host dreamed up this bohemian style shoot and it turned out amazingly! The stunning images were artfully captured by Crystal Stokes Photography. A full vendor list is at the bottom of this post.
Our trio of cakes were inspired by this gorgeous Claire Pettibone lace dress:
We’re loving the multiple cake trend that’s all the rage right now. The three cakes had intricate details including sugar flowers and layers and layers of dreamy ruffles.
We also provided colorful sweets in the form of pink and purple macarons, lemon squares and cupcakes. If you haven’t tried our lemon squares you are totally missing out!
In addition to our sweets, there was a beautiful picnic style food spread dished up by Something Classic.
The deep red and green florals were artfully created by New Creations Flower Co. How gorgeous is this natural looking bouquet and tablescape simply dripping with flowers?
We’re loving this floral headpiece too!
Thank you so much to The Graceful Host for including us in this absolutely stunning shoot along with these wonderful vendors!

At Wow Factor Cakes, we’re fortunate to be a part of a wonderful wedding and event community in Charlotte and we simply love partnering with our fellow vendors! We’re looking forward to showing you the styled shoots we’ve been a part of recently – we promise they will WOW you!
Last week we showed you the dreamy blush and gold styled shoot at Separk Mansion. This week’s feature is a little more modern! The kind folks at Trendy Bride NC showcased our shoot in their magazine and it is brimming with beautiful colors, modern elegance and of course, wonderful vendors.
We created a unique cake that was nestled inside a “cage” made of blades of grass. The cake was placed on an acrylic cake stand which coordinated with the ghost chairs and overall modern feel of the shoot.
To match the deep purple orchids used in the flowers and as the models headpieces, we created sugar orchids to adorn the top tiers of the cake. We hand cut sugar circles to form a sphere for the top of the cake.
The gorgeous hair and makeup for the models was done by Lindsey Reagan Thorne of Be Pretty.
Thanks to Ivy Robinson for designing this beautiful photo shoot and including us!

Last year, we had the pleasure of participating in a gorgeous styled shoot at the lovely Separk Mansion. From the blush and gold color scheme to the beautifully styled flowers and table setting, Flowers by Lingky did a fabulous job designing this dreamy shoot! Taking our inspiration from the color scheme, we provided a cake with intricate details and unique texture elements. Taken by Sarah Photography perfectly captured each and every stunning detail of this shoot.
A full vendor list is at the bottom of this post!
Lingky, with Flowers by Lingy, talks about her inspiration for this styled shoot:
“I wanted to create something unique and extravagant. I used gold as the main color and combined it with a pale, peachy pink so it wouldn’t look too shiny or glittery. Amy with Wow Factor Cakes perfectly connected this vision to the cake with its beautiful pink color and touches of gold.”
For the cake, we used different textural elements, hand made sugar brooches and individually placed pearls to make it elegant and have a true “WOW” factor! We took inspiration from Lingky’s color palette of blush, gold and pale peachy pink. Handmade sugar flowers adorned the top tier and gold bows delicately wrapped around each tier.
Chic hanging flowers and lush centerpieces complimented gold chargers, textured linens and ruffled chair covers to make a gorgeous table for this styled shoot.
We absolutely loved being a part of this elegant and dreamy styled shoot that was also featured on the popular wedding blog Elizabeth Anne Designs. Thanks to Flowers by Lingky for including us and for the beautiful photos from Taken by Sarah Photography!

From cake pops to French macarons, dessert tables are having a serious bridal moment. Dessert tables give your wedding guests a variety of flavors to choose from, as opposed to a single cake. Plus these diminutive confections make an easy treat on the go for the social butterflies of your reception. So for those of you brides to-be who wish to have your cake and eat it too, opting for a bite-size selection of desserts just might be a no-brainer. And for a few images of inspiration, we’ve put together a board of our small sweet favorites. Clockwise from top left: Cake shots: White Chocolate Raspberry, Tropical Delight, Pink Lemonade, Mocha, Cookies and Cream; Wowee Pops: Turtle, Red Velvet, Raspberry, Pink Lemonade, Mocha, Lemon, Almond Joy; Classic Cupcakes.
Twig-like detailing and delicate flowers lend themselves perfectly to autumn nuptials. But with winter just around the corner, we decided to transition this multi-tiered confection to the season to come. So from hefty lace overlay to splashes of Christmas red, this cake can be easily translated to a winter wedding. Take a look at our inspiration board below! Shoes, dress, invitation, place cards, bouquet.
Art imitates art in these runway-to-wedding-day cake-inspired pairings. A visionary can gain inspiration from anything in the world. An artist is astute to even the smallest details of the world, because even the most unadorned elements of everyday life can spark an exquisite creative concept. So for today’s pretty pairings, we’ve drawn inspiration from the ready-to-wear and couture catwalks. From stark lines of black and fuchsia to three-dimensional appliqué and whimsical blooms, these twosomes are a match made in culinary heaven.
It’s not an unlikely notion that both the bride and groom to-be have preconceived notions when it comes to the groom’s cake. It’s often a ‘love it or hate it’ type of wedding detail. Or maybe it’s simply a matter of budget. Either way, hear us out: Groom-centered cakes have far surpassed the singular role of wedding day sweets. With the inevitably girlie details that go into given wedding, nuptials have become so centered around the bride. So whether it’s a groom’s cake or a surprise dessert you serve at the rehearsal dinner, a cake created with his hobbies or interests in mind gives him his moment in the limelight as well, and an unforgettable reminder of the love you have for him. So here are a few of our favorites straight from the Wow Factor kitchen.
